I see this cropping up from time to time. Nobody (at least in
Scotland and everywhere else I've been) talks about Glasgae. The
colloquial term is "Glaesgah".
This from memory regarding heart attack statistics. There was a big
(mainly European) study looking at the incidence of heart attacks in
males and females in different countries. I think there were about 40
countries in the study.
Scotland and Ireland were the only two countries in which *both*
males and females were in the top half dozen. Other than these, the
high incidences were radically different between males and females.
IIRC, Greece was top for females, with males being near the bottom
and Finland was top for males, with females being mid table, but its
about 10 years since I last looked at this report and I couldn't find
it with a quick google and hubmed search. So, pinch of salt with this
one.
Mark.
