Actually, I read a completely different viewpoint in an article
purporting to quote senior McDonalds UK management.
It said (paraphrasing), that the healthy options stuff was introduced
as a result of market research. They asked people: what should we do
differently. Allegedly, an overwhelming number said "offer more
healthy stuff, especially salads". So (the article contends), they did.
Result ? Apparently nobody was ordering the healthy stuff.
Conclusion: The customers lied.
Mark.
p.s. Subway really sucks and its expensive here in Germany. I can get
a real baguette (yes, just like in France) stuffed full of, lets say,
tender roast beef, ruccolla (rocket) tomato (all organic) and
horseraddish sauce in a small private espresso bar immediately below
my flat for less than the cost of a long limp bap with tired salad,
unrecognizable meat and processed cheese (all tasteless) at Subway.
Why anyone would go there is completely beyond me.
