[Osx-nutters] Don't Bring That Booze into My Taxi

I actually don't have that big an issue with the booze.
Plenty of cabbies won't pick up people who are obviously drunk, and
plenty will refuse to take passengers that are street drinking. And
it seems as if the cabbies are dealing with the situation reasonably
- realising that if they refuse passengers, its going to cost them a
fare, and its no ones problem but theirs. With the light system it
will just be a mild annoyance. It does seem a little bizarre, though
- its very odd that in Minneapolis you would have 75% or so of
cabbies not just muslim, but fairly devout (I've been to a muslim
country - and most of them weren't that devout).
And I really don't think the posters fears that the
taxi-drivers will eventually force us all to be muslim by refusing to
offer us cheap public transport unless our women cover their arms etc
has any validity - its exactly this sort of problem that free
enterprise tends to deal with nicely.
The guide dog is more of an issue. Its against the law.
Simple as that. If their religious beliefs are in conflict with the
law, they will get punished. Eventually, the problem will have to be
resolved between the law and the muslim community - and I know which
one is going to win.
Cheers
David
