	My understanding is that
- its not actually a cracking issue - when linksys switched from 
linux to VxWorks for the firmware, they reduced the size of the 
memory, and the linux firmware versions no longer run in the same 
memory space
- linksys appreciate there is a market for the old hardware, and you 
can buy it as the WRT54GL or something like that - but you may have 
to order it.
	I have one. Its fine. There are many clever things you can do 
with one of the open source linux firmwares if so inclined (though 
the shipped firmware works fine too). If you buy one of the new 
versions, I am sure it will also work solidly, if not as flexibly.
