Look around you. Everything is getting flatter. OK, not everything,
but many UI components are getting flatter. This is definitely where
the train is heading. My thoroughly amateur perception is that the
flattening of the UI helps *content* with "depth". This might be
particularly relevant for e.g. the coverflow view in iTunes. Thats a
lot of "behind the UI depth", for me, this works better with minimal
UI "topography", but I guess its become apparent already that I only
dabble in design.
Another throwaway - the iTunes 7 UI seems to me to work better on
glossy screens. OK, I prefer glossy anyway, but somehow this new look
particularly benefits from them. Or is it just me ?
