It seems to me, that the main difference between the two is the
situation in which they find themselves.
Bush can't (much as he'd love to) come out and say what he really
thinks ^[1] and he can't do all of the things he wants to do ^[2].
I'm sure he'd just love to square up to Ahmadinejad. I suspect they
are both obsessed with "judgement day". They just choose different
weapons. The threat that Ahmadinejad perceives is real. He recognizes
the paucity of options at his disposal. The UN isn't going lift a
finger to resist the current US crusading. The threat that the US
perceives is also real, but they are having sucess in pressurizing
some other countries into signing up for the tour.
Both are raving, retarded, fundamentalist, religious, anti-
democratic, maniac zealots.
Buch is stuck in a system that is more restrictive, since, for the
time being, the country is still just about sufficiently democratic,
that he can't really manage the coup, that he so dearly wants.
Ahmy has a lot more freedom in this respect.
If you stuck Ahmy in the US, he'd behave like Bush. If you stuck Bush
in Iran, he'd behave like Ahmy.
Mark.
^[1]: not yet anyway, give the discovery institute another decade and
let "jesus christ's barmy army", or whatever those deluded dangerous
fucks call themselves run riot with kids for another few years and
things will look very different.
^[2]: though he and his buddies are pushing the envelope with
prisons, surveillance and international law.
