	its probably the mainstream position on the moderate left. 
Its not like the terrorism sponsoring, heroin smuggling, women 
oppressing, buddha exploding, nutcases in the Taliban have many 
friends in the left.
	While Iraq was a largely secular, not particularly associated 
with terrorism, and the religious nutcases only really got power once 
Saddams secular Baathists lost power. Its not as if the moderate left 
were pro-Saddam, but there are plenty of leaders they liked less. 
Mugabe, for instance.
