No, *IIRC*, studies have shown that there's no direct correlation
between income level and obesity. Indeed, obesity seemed to be more a
middle-class problem than anything.
But this is again ("don't care") beside the point.
The simple fact of the matter is that it's a case of eating less and
exercising more.
A hundred years ago people didn't need government intervention.
As I think I noted on this list some time ago, in WWI the average
daily calorie intake in the trenches was greater than it is today.
But the lads did a lot more exercise. When I notice I'm putting on a
few too many pounds, I stop eating as much. As I think Stephen Fry
observed, when you look at photographs of starving villagers in
Africa, you never see someone huge at the back saying, "I can't help
it, it's just my genes".
