As I said this is my point. If we define what we really mean by  
'scientist' and 'christian' then we might get somewhere.

We may have to accept that both 'conditions' can exist in degrees in  
individuals while trying to cine to some sort of accommodation.

The prerequisite for being a Christian and for being a scientist are  
not mutually exclusive especially if the area of your science does not  
conflict with doctrine.

It was a nun/teacher who told me Genesis was a story designed to  
explain the existence of the world to ignorant goat herders. Seemed  
reasonable to me while at the same time obliterating my faith, if  
indeed I had any.
