I haven't heard Ys yet, but have heard such raves I really
want to check it out.
I did, unfortunately, share Warren Ellis's impression that
her earlier album sounded like someone fucking a harp with a potato.
Which was really unfair, as her harp playing is quite good its just
her voice that I find it hard to get past. Quite liked Davendra
Banhart, who seems to appeal to a lot of the same people.

I love Mogwai.
I have been taking listening to a lot of ambient stuff
lately. Monolake, Steve Roach, Coil.
Also saw the Tiger Lillies on sunday, and have been listening
to them ever since. Brilliant, but definitely not a mainstream taste
- a weird cabaret act with falsetto vocals and piano accordion, with
the filthiest blackest humour. As my wife said, doesn't so much push
good taste and common decency as throw it to the ground and put the
boot in. But if deranged cabaret about rape and murder sounds like
your thing, recommended.
Also saw the Presets live a while ago, thought they were terrific.

been meaning to check out SUNN O))).
Been listening to some mashup stuff as well. The downloadable
Best of Bootie 2006 had a couple of gems.
Cheers
