First off, anyone tolerating (at least) the use of violence to advance
their agenda is out, so GP and PETA are off my list. And then, again,
anyone taking extreme positions is likewise eliminated.

I put PETA and Greenpeace in the same category as Operation Rescue and the
Michigan Militia.

And, FWIW, I'm a big supporter of the various SPCA's on animal
health/ethics issues, and environmental groups like WWF and Sierra Club.
But PETA is just an embarassment and easy target for discrediting what is
otherwise a popular position - that animals should, where
practical/possible/appropriate, be treated humanely and with dignity.
