[Osx-nutters] Macworld Keynote

Don't wanna be the showstoper here - in fact, I probably don't belong
to the target market of the iPhone anyways. I'm not really a fan of
cellphones or this other gadget stuff, but I'm with Apple because I
care about "real" computers. And yeah, well, I confess: I've always
liked listening to music very much, so the iPod, when it appeared,
was just perfect for me, and so I've bought one (ONE? Many
actually!). Still, even if I were a potential customer for the
iPhone, I'd be concerned about one thing specifically:

- I'm pretty much used into going into an Apple store, buying
whatever device I want, and doing whatever I want to with said
device. Now, being forced to stay the customer of a certain service
provider for at least two years (and if I intend to continue using
this device, probably also after these two years) would really be
something I wouldn't be too happy about. I won't start the discussion
here if an iPhone makes sense at all or if music works better on a
bigger iPod or surfing the web works better on a real computer.
Instead, I'm wondering: Why don't they bring this thing out as a
"stand-alone" product? Because they'd have to sell at a higher price
then? Well, I'm pretty sure that they'd still sell more units if it
were a simple "pick it up and do whatever you want" device, even if
it cost $100 more.

Greetings,
Nils
